Description
Overview:
Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) refers to using naltrexone at doses between 1.5–4.5 mg, significantly lower than the standard 50 mg dose used for opioid addiction. It is used off-label for autoimmune conditions, chronic pain, and inflammatory disorders.
Mechanism of Action
LDN works by transiently blocking opioid receptors, which leads to a rebound increase in endogenous endorphin production. It also modulates immune system activity by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines and enhancing regulatory T cells.
